Elizabethtown, Ky. (July 6, 2022) – The Kentucky Procurement Technical Center (KYPTAC) opened a new regional office in February. Based in Elizabethtown, this office serves businesses in Fort Knox and surrounding regions, including Nelson and Franklin counties. By launching an office exclusively focused on this region, KYPTAC expands their capacity to help hundreds of area businesses find new opportunities through federal, state and local government procurement and to grow the relationship with government agencies in the area.
KYPTAC, an initiative of the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC), promotes economic development and private sector business growth by providing free assistance to companies interested in providing products or services to federal, state and local governments, which annually offer billions of dollars in contracts to private sector companies. KYPTAC procurement consultants offer assistance with contracting readiness, registration processes and market research. Other KYPTAC offices include Morehead, Covington, Lexington, Louisville and Paducah.
KYPTAC Executive Director Nancy Brown said, “By adding an Elizabethtown regional office, KYPTAC aims to help current clients with local representation while reaching other small businesses that currently do not participate in government procurement. We provide services that can help their businesses grow. There is incredible opportunity in the area. Fort Knox alone awards more than $350 million in federal contracts each year.”
The Elizabethtown KYPTAC office is led by Shawn Rogers, a procurement consultant who brings nearly 20 years of small business and economic development experience to the KYPTAC team. Before joining KYPTAC, Rogers served as the director of operations for the Council on Licensure, Enforcement & Regulation. She was also the center director and Management Consultant for the Bluegrass SBDC, where she worked across multiple industries assisting established and new businesses with capital formation and business planning. Shawn holds a BBA in management and a BS in accounting from the University of Kentucky.
