Cornerstone Engineering, Inc.

Cornerstone Engineering, Inc. began in 2003 with a passion to restore life to aging infrastructure. Now, almost twenty years later, Cornerstone’s founder and president Chella Subram continues to guide the firm forward in this mission. In both its engineering and construction divisions, Cornerstone strives to bring an innovative problem-solving approach to every project, finding customer-oriented solutions that minimize disruption and keep costs down. Over the years, many clients have trusted Cornerstone to provide services to restore numerous historic landmarks and facilities.

In addition to using conventional materials, Cornerstone also specializes in modern strengthening technologies such as Carbon-Fiber and Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP and GFRP), which has saved hundreds of hours of on-site time and tens of millions of dollars on projects for the owners. Cornerstone serves multiple industries including government, commercial, industrial, historical, healthcare, religious, educational, and water and wastewater utilities. The Cornerstone team’s commitment to their clients is their top priority, and a repeat-client rate of over 95% is a testimony to their high-level quality and service.

Thanks to the KYPTAC, Cornerstone has made connections that have launched successful partnerships and projects. The KYPTAC facilitated an introduction with Mott MacDonald (MM), a renowned global engineering, management, and development firm. Through this introduction, Chella Subram went on to meet with MM’s federal projects director, John Peabody. As a result, Cornerstone was able to partner with MM and bid on projects. Cornerstone’s consistent quality service to their clients has led to recognition through a variety of awards:

  • Inc 5000

  • Business First Fast 50

  • 2021 SAME-KY Construction Excellence Award

  • 2021 MBDA Construction Firm of the Year Award

  • 2021 TSMSDC Small Business Supplier of the Year Award

  • 2022 Partners in Philanthropy Award

In the future, Cornerstone hopes to continue its relationship with KYPTAC and plans to utilize KYPTAC’s resources and knowledge with the next target of entering the GSA schedule and becoming even more involved.
